2.- Grupo Josmar Car and Caravan Rentals 🥈

Grupo Josmar is another local car hire company, based in the town of Vall D’Alba, with offices at Castellón Airport.

Grupo Josmar also specializes in caravan hire, so if you’re visiting the area and prefer to go your way and skip the hotels, this could be a good option.

Like Malco, the online booking process is quick and easy, with price transparency, low deposit, and free cancellation.

We have not been able to find too many customer reviews posted at the airport office that refer to car hire, as many talk about their other business model, caravan hire. Still, the ones we have found are very positive.

Car Rental Companies in Castellon City

If you arrive at Castellon Airport, the best thing to do is to book directly at the terminal with any of the two companies listed above, so you avoid complications. But if you are still not convinced by these companies, or you are very loyal to a particular rental company, we will tell you how to rent from other companies in Castellon city.

Most of the rental companies are located in or near the Castellon train station, so you must first make the journey between the airport and the station, which is approximately 32km away. There are three ways to do this:

  • Taxi: The fastest and most direct, but less economical. This journey costs around €35 or €40.
  • Shuttle bus (South Route): This bus is operated by the company Autos Mediterráneo, and runs directly between Castellón Airport and the bus station (located at the train station). It costs 12€. You can buy your ticket here, or buy it directly at the information point inside the airport terminal.
  • Shuttle bus (North Route) + Suburban train: This option is the cheapest of the three, but the slowest. You have to take the shuttle bus on the northern route which runs directly between Castellón Airport and Torreblanca train station (it costs less than €2 a ticket). Once at Torreblanca train station, you should catch a local train to Castellón. This line is operated by the company Hife, and you can buy your ticket directly inside the bus. Once in Torreblanca, a train ticket to Castellón costs around €3.

Then, once in Castellón, we list the car hire companies in the city.

Alamo, Enterprise & National

Enterprise-Alamo-National-Castellon

Alamo, Enterprise and National are three of the best and most recognised car rental companies in the world. We list them all three together because as they belong to the same group of companies, Enterprise Holdings, you’ll find their counters together. So, although they are three totally different brands, and with three different booking websites, all three brands are one and the same.

They are located inside the Train Station Terminal. Below are links to their booking sites, although it’s always best to use a car price comparator.

AVIS & BUDGET

avis-budget-castellon

As with the previous companies, Avis and Budget are two of the most widespread brands in the world. We list them together because they belong to the same group, Avis Budget Group, and they are also owners of other well-known brands such as Payless, or Zipcar; these two are not available in Castellón.

Known for their premium service and large fleet of high quality vehicles, AVIS and BUDGET cater for all types of travellers, ensuring that whether you are in town on business or exploring the scenic landscapes of Castellón, you will have the perfect car for the occasion.

Their commitment to customer satisfaction, combined with competitive prices, especially if you are part of their loyalty programmes, makes AVIS an option for those looking for convenience, comfort and reliability in their car hire experience.

Avis and Budget are located at Av. de l’Alcora, 197, about 20 minutes walk from Castellón train station.

Record Go

Record-Go-Car-Rental-Castellon

Born in Castellon, Record Go is a well-known car rental company that offers rentals in the main destinations in Spain, such as Alicante, Valencia, Barcelona, Malaga, Gran Canaria, or Tenerife; but it is also present in Italy, Greece, or Portugal.

Its office in Castellón is located at Calle Río Nervión, 3, about 30 minutes walk from the train station.

Although there are more rental companies in the area, we do not think it is appropriate to name it because either they only rent cars to companies, or they are too far from the Castellon train station, and it is not convenient for travelers arriving from the airport.

Why rent a car at Castellon Airport

Castellón airport was opened to commercial flights in September 2015. This airport is sold by airlines as the secondary airport for the city of Valencia. However, the airport authorities do not want this, they want to differentiate themselves from Valencia, considering Castellon as a unique destination in itself, which it is.

Located in the north of the Valencian Community, Castellon Airport offers easy access to a wide variety of destinations, from the serene beaches of the Costa del Azahar to the bustling streets of the cities of Castellón or Valencia.

The Castellon area has a long tourist tradition. Cities like Peniscola, Alcossebre, Benicassim, Oropesa, Vinaros, Benicarlo…, are filled with British, French or Germans throughout the year. Castellón has more than 300 days of sunshine and great temperatures, which invite its citizens and tourists to visit its beaches even in winter.

Renting a car at Castellón Airport gives you the freedom to create your own itinerary, visit hidden gems that the Costa de Azahar hides at your own pace.
